Self-booked comparison

Kyiv to Kraków · 4 nights · fares checked 12 Feb 2026

Same route, same four nights, priced line by line

The middle column is what you pay when you buy each piece yourself. The right column is what sits inside the all-in total of €279 per person sharing a mixed dorm.

Line item Self-booked In the €279 fare
Return coach seat, Kyiv to Kraków, reserved €64 Included
Hostel dorm bed, 4 nights, mixed room €88 Included
72-hour city transit pass €19 Included
Guided orientation walk, day one €14 Included

Where booking it yourself is cheaper. Coach and dorm bed alone come to €152. If you already know Kraków and want only transport and a bed, buy those two lines independently and skip the walk, the transit pass and the breakfasts.

The €70 difference on the full list pays for the group leader, the seat hold while your student ID is checked, and the rebooking cover we carry when a coach is cancelled.

Student fare applies with a valid student ID or international student identity document, checked at boarding, 18 or over.

How booking works

3 steps / balance due 14 days out

Hold a seat, pay the balance, board with your student ID

  1. Hold your seat on a specific departure

Send the seat hold form with the four qualifiers that lock a fare: departure code, route, night count and room type. We reserve the seat under your name and reply with the departure date, the seats left on that coach and the all-in total for the items listed below.

  2. Pay the balance 14 days before departure

The balance is due 14 days before departure. Payment covers transport, the nights listed for your room type and the guided city block. Anything outside that list stays optional and is marked as optional on the departure ledger, so nothing is added after you confirm.

  3. Board with a valid student ID

Bring a valid student ID or an international student identity document. It is checked at boarding, once, alongside your booking surname. Travellers must be 18 or over. No institution is named or restricted, and the document type does not change the fare.

Seats held on a departure are released if the balance is not paid by the deadline. Compare dated routes on the departures ledger, or go straight to the seat hold form.

Student group with backpacks outside a hostel doorway in Krakow on the last morning of a five-night departure
Krakow, March 2026 · group of 14 · 5 nights, dorm beds, 4 shared rooms, 1 night bus each way
  • Room lists were taped to the hostel door before the bus arrived, so nobody stood in the lobby guessing. Sleeper bus was full, bring a flat pillow.

Oksana · Lviv (LWO) to Krakow (KRK) · dorm, 4-bed

  • I paid the all-in total in one transfer and then spent about 60 euro on food across the week. Nothing else was invoiced afterwards.

Bohdan · Kyiv (KBP) to Budapest (BUD) · dorm, 6-bed

  • Two of us booked our own train home instead and it worked out fine, cheaper for the dates we needed. The group leg we kept as planned.

Frequently asked questions

Six answers we repeat most at the desk. Each one applies to the departure code printed beside the fare.

Who counts as a student on these departures?
A valid student ID or an international student identity document is checked at boarding, and travellers must be 18 or over. No institution is named or required, and no letter of enrolment is asked for.
What does the from €279 fare include?
It is the lowest seat on the Kyiv to Krakow route, per person sharing a dorm bed, on the dated departure shown in the ledger. The all-in total for the items listed beside that departure covers the coach seat, the dorm nights, the city transfer and the group leader. Meals and museum tickets are excluded.
Which documents are needed at the border?
A passport valid three months past the return date, the boarding confirmation we email after payment, and the accommodation proof we supply. Officers may also ask for proof of funds, so carry a card or cash for your days there.
Can I change my room type after paying?
Yes, while seats remain at the new tier. Room type is chosen at hold: dorm bed, twin share, or single supplement. Any fare difference is settled before departure.
What happens if I cancel?
More than 21 days before departure the fare is refunded minus the deposit. Inside 21 days the accommodation share is non-refundable, because dorm beds are prepaid. The full schedule sits in our Cancellation and Refund Policy.
Is booking each leg myself cheaper?
For one traveller who is flexible on dates, self-booking is often cheaper and we say so plainly. For four or more on fixed dates, the coach seat, the dorm block and the group leader usually come in below the sum of separate bookings.
